5 Easy Ways To Cook Zucchini

Are you running out of healthy new recipes? This summer squash is here to solve any dinner or lunch with its versatility.  Zucchinis are known for their mild flavor and crunchiness, two characteristics that pair well with a wide range of meats, vegetables, and even fruits!

While zucchinis have a low-calorie count, they are also a great source of fiber, minerals, and Vitamin B6. The latter is a key nutrient to different body functions, as it regulates mood, digestion, and hemoglobin production.

So, how can we introduce zucchini to our weekly meal plan? We teach you 5 ways to cook it for  you to create new dishes at home:

Stir-fry it!

Like many other vegetables, the healthiest way to eat zucchini is raw, but uncooked zucchini can be bitter. So you can chop and lightly cook it in a wok or a pan and then season before adding it to salads, soups, or tacos.

Make zucchini noodles

This Instagram-worthy dish, it’s not only pretty but easy to make! The key to this method is to find the right way to cut the zucchini. You can use a spiralizer or a mandoline. Once you have a handful of strings, throw them in a pan with more vegetables and seasoning for a few minutes.

With zoodles -yes, zucchini noodles-you need to heat them up and not cook them in water as you would do with regular pasta.

Turn it into bread

Did you know you can make bread, muffins, and cakes with zucchini? This vegetable is perfect to combine with sweet and savory baking recipes, you just need to grate it and add it to the mix.

Keep in mind, that zucchinis are 95% water, so they will bring all the moisture you need for any type of flour.

Bake zucchinis with everything!

If you love lasagna, maybe you can try a healthier version of it with zucchini. Just wash it well, cut it open and stuff it with meat, cheese, and tomato sauce. Put it in a tray and straight to the oven for a few minutes -if the stuffing is already cooked-.

Think of the zucchini in this method as a boat to hold any delicious stuffing you can imagine!

Roast it as a side

Zucchinis can be your go-to side for a tasty dish. Cut it into slices -you can leave the skin-season it with salt, pepper, garlic, and rosemary, and bake them for a few minutes. The result is a potato fry look-alike that pairs well with meat, fish, or poultry.
