Lactation Energy Bites

I'm delighted to share a recipe that's not only delicious but also crafted with love to support women on their postpartum journey – Lactation Energy Bites. These little bites of goodness are designed to provide you with a natural energy boost while nourishing your body with wholesome ingredients that are beneficial for postpartum wellness.

LACTATION ENERGY BITES

Yields about 12 1 ½ tablespoon balls

Ingredients

2 cups dates, pitted

½ cup raw whole pecans

½ cup raw whole cashews

2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

2 tablespoons brewers yeast

½ teaspoon sea salt

2 tablespoons almond butter

1 tablespoon cold water (or can use non-dairy milk)

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Procedure: 

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and clear a shelf in the fridge. 

  2. Add dates, pecans and cashews in your food processor and pulse until broken down into little pieces. 

  3. Add cocoa powder, brewers yeast, salt, almond butter, water (or non-dairy milk) to your food processor and process until mixture just starts to clump together.

  4. Using a tablespoon cookie scoop (1 1/2 tablespoon), scoop the mixture out. Then using your hands to roll them (this helps pack them).

  5. Place the balls on the parchment lined baking sheet, set them in the fridge until they harden for about 15 minutes.

  6. Transfer to an airtight container to store in the fridge for up to 10 days. You can also freeze them for up to 1 month.

Brewer's Yeast

Known for its galactagogue properties, brewer's yeast is believed to help increase milk production in breastfeeding mothers, making it a valuable addition to postpartum snacks.

Dates

Rich in natural sugars and fiber, dates provide a quick source of energy and support healthy digestion, which can be beneficial during the postpartum period.

Pecans and Cashews

Packed with protein, healthy fats, and essential nutrients like magnesium and zinc, pecans and cashews help to promote overall energy levels and support lactation.
